Acai Bowls
I have seen the hype of these Acai Bowls all over the internet! I finally caved in and did a quick search to see where I could get the ingredients to make one myself at home.
Acai Berry Background
The Acai Berry originates from Brazil. Acai is a dark plum colored berry. It has gotten very popular recently in Acai bowls cafes. These bowls are created by pouring a thick smoothie into a bowl and decorating the top with fruit, nuts, granola, berries and a wide variety of other toppings.

DIY Acai Bowls
The steps in making Acai Bowls is fairly simple. I was surprised that even though my smoothie was not as thick as I would have liked it. The fruit did not sink in all the way.
- Cut up fruit for both smoothie and toppings.
- Make a thick smoothie.
- Add toppings.
